I have four species of map turtle... and a personal observation... false map turtle are a lot less skittish than others!

I have some youngsters who are not bothered about jumping off the basking area when I'm about and two adult false females who will virtually climb out of their tanks into my hands when I'm around... I would like to think it is because they love me, but I think it is just the possibility of getting more food!

I have a false map turtle and when i first got her she was a nightmare for being skittish...I had to ban my daughter from going into my bedroom as she simply wouldn't bask as everytime someone went in the room she would jump straight back into the water and swim franticly into a corner of the tank.....6 months later shes totally fine and she basks regardless of who goes near the tank...Last night i even took heaps of photo's of her basking and she didnt move an inch........She's quite tame now and will even swim onto mine and my missus's hand......

She will not however eat in a seperate tub....I have to put her in another tank if i want her to eat smelly/messy stuff......The tub i have is a big tub aswell but she simply refuses to eat when places in it.......

All in all shes a delightful pet to have.Full of character and lovely to just sit and watch.....
