thats brilliant news, well done you! You could use an old bookcase or somethign similiar (Argos, Tesco direct etc) and turn it on its back if you arent good at making things. Have a look at the sticky at the top of the page on Indoor Housing, got some great ideas there to steal!!!

Sounds like you have a little girl there then - mine's a little smaller and has a gert stonking tail which curls to the side - if you can get pics of his plastron and rear end and tail bit we'd be able to sex him/her for you.

Have fun with the build and let us see some pics of the new table - you've got one very lucky tortoise, good on yer for doing everything you can for him and not getting huffy about it liek some other people

Yeah thats the sort of thing you need, although I'm sure you could make something similiar and save lots of money. Couple of things I arent fussed on with regards to that table, the basking light would be static as opposed to one that you could move up and down - I find moving mine up and down really handy especially just before hibernation when I need to lower the temps. Personally I dont think the sides look very deep - I have 9/10" of substrate and my sides are about 26" deep and lastly I dont think it'd last very long to be honest.

Yeah taht'd be fine or even take the doors out and turn it onto its back and there you go!! Am surprised you're getting the right temps with the light so far away from the substrate, it seems like its up miles in the air - let me know how you get on lovey

I think its cos of it being an enclosed viv that the bulbs so far away - I never gave that a thought though at first but now thinking about it its obvious!! Doh!!!

As for takign the door off and putting a large plank of wood across, good thinking Batman I reckon that'd work a treat and then you'll probably need to lower the bulb down as there will be more airflow, chuck in some top soil and viola, you have new torty housing!!! Excellent!
