Default Tort. "beak" needs a trim?

Hello all.
I have a 6 year old Hermans and have noticed recently that here beak is getting a little long. It isn't affecting her eating but I think that it would be better for her to be shorter. I have a cuttle shell in with her but she hardly touches it. Any advice as to what I can do before the vet gets a visit. Thanks in advance..

I know some people do file their own with a nail file to help give them a trim but Ive not done it myself. If you aren't already feed her from a slate and that should help keep it trim in future

No I wouldnt do it myself I dont think - I dont have a lot of confidence sometimes with my own, I know its daft but I sometimes need someone to tell me I can do things and then I will

My tort had a very long beak when I got him as a rescue. I used one of my wifes nail files for about 1 minute a day for a couple of weeks and it shortened nicely. I soon got the message when he had had enough. I also got the message off her when she found her file next to his table!

snap. i done the same to a rescue we took in a few weeks ago, i had to do it more often than that as his was very bad and wasnt able to eat at all but hes fine now and eats like a horse.

if your confident enough to do it, go for it. the tort will let you know if its had enough!
