Default hermit crabs HELP

i got a 2ftlong 1ft high and 1ft deep tank with lid i had 6 gold fish in there and they was growing so i put them in the pond and they still alive
i thinking about hermit crabs so my family can hold them like my little sister 10 she held one before and really like them and my dad was upset that i put the fish in the pond lol ill be looking after them so i needd to know what sand to use i got play ground sand and i know they like climbing so ill get good net but what have the temp got to be and about they water?
any info will be great thanks.

Ive not got a clue, but it might be worth posting this on the exotics section of the forum or the aquatic bit just so a wider range of people can read and respond to your post.

forgot to add that i used play sand they have to have it quite deep as they like to dig ..........
and for heating i just used a heat mat on the back of the tank

Ive got 6 hermit crabs..only 3 are about at the moment the other 3 are hiding somewhere...will post pics x x

Good choice getting hermits!!! Like tracie said you can have sand as substrate but ive recently started using coconut husk, but both look great in the tank!!
Just do your research well, ask us all on here loads of questions and look at lots of websites!!

you could if you wanted mix both substrates ( sand and coconut husk) together too
