Default Help tortoise has broken a nail and its bleeding

My tortoise has broken a nail outside this afternoon and dont know what to do??? Take him to the vets? Ill put some pics up soon

I keep an ordinary stypic pencil handy when I'm trimming my parrot's claws- never had to use it, but it's been recommended just in case. If it's bird-safe, it should be reptile-safe.

Or if you have something like betadine (diluted) you can use that to help stop any infections setting in. It can be bought at a chemist, or they might have an alternative.

I suppose its better than nothing, but its a sticky cream so not ideal. Better to use diluted dettel as that dries up.

When you have a tortoise, it good to have a sort of medical box for them. With something like, betadine, or F10 for cuts etc and shell rot, some cotten buds, scissors, and I also have micro pore to cover if possible small cuts. Also a few codliver oil capsules, for stickly eyes, or artificial eye drops.
As things will crop up and its handy to have them to hand

I might do that actually - its a good idea PP, as I dont always have those things to hand. Thanks for that
