Thanks Christy06, I dont have much of a garden, its mostly concrete but the in laws have a huge garden and are happy to help so i have made sure they arent using any chems or anything. We live near a lot of hills and high forest type areas which are way out the way of towns etc, do you think the correct weeds and flowers here would be safe or best to avoid them just incase? x

Default Help me!

I had my tort on christmas day and have been feeding him on spinach, broccoli, monge tout, tomatoe's and various other fruit and veg. (i did read that these were fine with a few exceptions)

I am really worried now after reading this thread that i am feeding him all the wrong stuff.
I did try him on dry food soaked in water, but this seemed to make him sluggish and constipated. he's back to normal now and is quite alert and active.

It has been snowing since christmas and i havent seen a weed around at all for me to collect. What would you feed him if you cant get weeds? and do you guys seriously go out picking load of weeds? i havent really got any fields around me.

Is "garden cress" good for a Hermanni? I planted some seeds and I noticed they grows well indoor.
Many thanks.

YAY this sticky is great... I found a load of a random tasty looking weed in my garden. Turns out it's bittercress and Stewie can eat it

Hi all. great to find a forum that is as helpful as this one. i am just about to collect my first Torty . This has been a great help from a diet point of view as the so called reptile specialist that i am getting the tort from has told me to use fruit and veg and the dried pellet suppliments. Just got a couple of questions,

can i use bagged salad like flourette that has the mixed leaves ( not the cheap crap salad ) ?
can the tort eat normal garden grass ?
I read somewhere that scraping a cuttlefish over the food ads extra calcium is this true ?
How often should i bath my tort ?

Sorry these may seem basic questions but i want to start out the right way and keep my little girl healthy.

Thanks all

Scott

Hello and Welcome!

You will probably bet faster/more responces if you post this as a new topic in the main Shelled forum

The APA is not a wildlife protection group, it is a fanatical Animal Rights Business, a highly profitable Limited company
