Jesus, Torts eat Nettles?
do you have to do anything with them or just give them to them to eat?

I Clean all my weeds before giving them, n add suppliments.. that's it..theres some that kiara will eat, that deemo won't n vice versa. they seem to have personal preferences. So i only give a couple variations a day..rather than a free for all buffet..seems to be working so far

A serious question for Peaches or KatieXX, Do you know the nutritional values of each(ie Potasium, Zinc that sort of thing) by any chance, if so this could also be added to the thread.

good point. I don't know exact nutritional value for all the weeds..all i know are the ones to avoid that contain to high an oxhalic acid content for example. I'll try to do some research n see if i can find out exact levels for some of the weeds. can't make any promises though.

I would refer to the Tortoise Nutrition Group for that sort of information as Annie has many years of experience and has been giving advice to many in her professional capacity in this matter. It's not something to mess about with, the same as other groups have tried and failed in the past. One group has spent time advising this and that for tortoises based on teh the so called nutritional content only to be giving potentially lethal advise. It's good to see people making an attempt to improve tortoise husbandry on the whole but nutrition is a very specialised subject IMHO

HI,

This link is very helpful for that, i have to post it as a link as it won't copy and paste right, when you click on it scroll down and it gives you a chart with most of the weeds on;

nutrient analyses of replacment tortoise foods

Hope that helps!!
