Default tortoise drama!

hi, i have two hermanns tortoises they have been living together for a year, they are both about 3 and roughly the same size. They live in a 4 foot by 3 foot tortoise table. they have recently started fighting. hermy tries to hump sheldon but then at other times sheldon bites hermys legs, i also caught hemy lunging at sheldon and trying to bite. this only happens a few times a week most of the time they are as close as peas in a pod. should i seperate them? any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like you have 2 males. (Post some plastron photos and we will have a look) It would be best to separate them.

Unless they actually draw blood, then leave them to sort out who is alpha male. Generally once this happens it sorts its self out. Just monitor closely as you can.
All males will fight until one is the dominant one (alpha) then they might have the odd spat now and again, but generally they will sort it out. The only time you would really have to seperate them, is if you introduce a female, then problems will happen.
Without females, the males nearly always sort it out.
But there is the exception to the rule:0)
Give them a chance first.

If you plan to keep them together, make sure there are things in the table to break up the sight lines. Good luck.
