Default Gravel

Hello,

I was just wondering if I can put gravel in my tort table? Just as a little decorative path? Im not sure if I should or not as the tort might eat them?

Any ideas?

I think it would depend on the size of the gravel and the size of the tortoise - I rehomed a tort that after a few weeks stopped using his back legs, xrays showed him to be full of white gravel from his previous home. That poor tortoise, George, went through hell passing the gravel!!

make sure they are too big for the tort to eat and you shouldnt have any problems.

so stones instead of gravel.

George is a gorgeous boy and currently deep in slumber!

Both George and I went through hell, every trick in the book to get that tortoise to poop - Feb 14th last year he eventually started to poop out those pieces of gravel and boy did I feel his discomfort!!

I used the smooth pebbles you can get from B&Q, they have small bags of decorative ones, I found a bag of white ones in their reduced section because the bag was split, it was half price, but felt the same weight as an unopened bag. Safer than gravel.

I dont use pebbles because i have heard the problems they can cause if eaten. Also the coloured ones are very confusing to a tortoise and they will try and eat it.
