Default HELP.Corn snake PROLAPSE PROBLEM.Please help.....

Hello.I have a prolapse problem with my corn snake.
I have read storys and info on when male snakes get this condition but mine is a female, does the same info apply to her?
The affected area does pertrude when she is Pooing and goes back in when she has finished so i imagine its not so serious....
I Live in the uk (northamptonshire) and dont know of a specialist vets near me.What can i do?
Please help as we love our snake dearly and want to help her.

I look forward to your reply.

Does it only come out whilst she's going to the bathroom, and then is fully enclosed and normal at other times? If so this is not really a prolapse, but could perhaps be described as a loose bowel. Does she seem to be straining at all? Sometimes a bit does come out and it looks a bit red and moist and then goes back in, that can be perfectly normal. If there was a lot coming out, any blood at all, or it was getting stuck out then there might be more cause for concern.

The biggest risk if some of the bowel is coming out, and then going back in, would be trapping dirt and bacteria in as it goes, and thus possibly causing an internal infection. The best solution for that would be to remove the substrate and keep the viv as clean as possible so no substrate or dust is trapped in the bowel when it withdraws.

It doesn't sound like an emergency if it's not stuck outside the body at the moment, but hopefully someone can let you know of a good specialist vet in your area.

Are you 100% positive she is female?

Yes im sure she is a she.We had 15Eggs last yr.1st clutch as far as i know.

She doesnt seem to strain.lol Not sure id know how 2 tell.lol Would she look constipated?lol
Quite a lot (about the size of top of little finger) its not red or sore from what i can tell,no blood and the poo is normal.
She was taken 2 the reptile centre in northampton and her poo was green for a few days.Hope this not a factor.

I use the red washable chippings so it is a little harder to stop bacteria from getting in2 her.
