Default fox snake care sheet

hey i jus recently got a fox snake and would like to get a care sheet for it. i have her in a tub at the min as she is too small for a viv. fox snakes are very rare in ireland so not many people have kept them in turn they cant help me out. few things i mainly would like to no is:

1. do they like to climb and
2 what substrate is best suited for them??

any help is greatly appreciated lads as i cant get the info i need at the min.

Hey, I have had a fox snake for a few years now, and its been pretty much the same as keeping a corn snake so any corn snake caresheet will give u more or less the advice u need!
Fox snakes tend to be way more active than corn snakes tho, mine is in particular! He does tend to climb quite a bit as well, most of his time is on the floor but when he's cruising about he's up and down climbing and exploring! In the wild they climb trees quite a bit to search for birds nests looking for food and although they arent considered arboreal, it would be a shame if in captivity if they had nothing to climb cos theyre so good at it!

Regarding substrate ive only ever used aspen shavings for him which has never been a problem, but i have often used just newspaper so either of those would be fine in my opinion.

Theyre pretty hardy so you'll be fine, and although I love cornsnakes too, I find fox snakes way more charismatic! Hope this helped! Cheers

i have corns and royals, and iv been offered a fox snake and there isnt many care-sheets to be found.

What temps do they need? or could i run there heat mat of the corns stat?

As said before, they need the same care as a corn. Some literature says they prefer cooler temperatures, but in my experience, this is not the case.

thanks for the reply, im led to believe that it is housed with 2 x corns which im also getting but i will be splitting them up.

be nice to have something a little different in my little collection
