Default Royal Python Care sheet

I have just created this care sheet, on personal experience.

Royal/Ball Python CareSheet

Introduction To Royal / Ball Pythons

Ok so I normally call them Royal Pythons, so lets refer to them as Royal Pythons through out this caresheet.

Royal Pythons Originate from West Africa, normally in Ghana and Togo, they generally have very good temperments.
Their common names are Ball Python and Royal Python (Known As This In The U.K)
Latin Name : Python Regius

Royal Pythons have a life span of about 20 - 30 years (48 years record)

Adult Royal Pythons are a small to medium sized python, on average males and females will reach a size in the range of 3-5 ft.
Females are generally larger, and have a larger sized body.
Females have been known to reach 6 ft.

Royal Pythons are a beutifull python to look at, with their stunning gold colours, there are hundreds of morphs of Royal Python.
One way that you can tell a male and female apart is head size, females will normally have larger heads.

Royal Pythons eat mice and rats, pre-killed is allways a better option, being the safest way for the python without harming it.
Baby Royal Pythons will eat fuzzy mice (mice that have just grown fur) and they will continue to move up to medium to large rats.

The Royal Python is classed as a begginer snake, because of its temperment and ease of feeding.

Housing a Royal Python is very simple, providing that you have the right equipment.
Here is a simple list of equipment that you would need to house a baby royal python.

A 35ltr RUB
Small Heat-Mat
Thermostat
Sutable Substrate E.g : Cork Bark
2 Hides For The Python To Feel Sucure In
1 Moist Hide For Shedding
Water Bowl (the water should be replaced every 2-3 Days)

Having a thermostat is absolutly essential, without it, you could put your Python at risk.

Substrate

Aspen bedding is reccomended, aswell as bark substrate.
Breeders will often use newspaper ( I don't like using it)
Most people will add a rock or two into the set-up to ease shedding

Conclusion

The conclusion is that the Royal Python is a very easy snake to keep, however some adult males may go off their food for up to 8 months in winter, due to the
breeding season, but don't let this put you off.
I would highly recommend a Royal Python to be a begginer snake.
