I suppose everyone has their own opinions, i meant that i use 2ft high vivs and its plenty of space, even for the bigger carpets but more wouldn't hurt of course Infact im going to fit some corner shelves to my vivs tomorrow i think, saw a picture of a set up and a big coastal looked nice and comfy in the corner...

what are carpets like for handling i know as hatchlings they can be quite nippy but can you handle them as you would a royal or a corn or are they more kinda 'display-ish animals'

Carpets are excellent snakes to handle, they are somewhat faster than royals and larger than corns of course but they are certainly not limeted to display animals. One thing they do that throws unexpecting people off however is they tend to slither up your body to your head, this isn't aggression, they like to be high up, i have several carpets that would happily sit on your head all day if you would let them! As for young carpets being aggressive, i couldn't deny it out right but it is often overated, they soon calm down in my experience.

I really like the ones with the bright yellow on deep black colours. I've heard the babies are mostly black and grey, does anyone know of a decent UK breeder who can guarantee they'll grow to have the vibrant colours? Also, how much am I looking at for one of those types?

No one can really guarantee high yellow jungles when they are young, I have seen high yellow jungles go anywhere from £150 - £500 with an average price of £300 for a decent high yellow jungle.

As for breeders there are a few abroad who have high yellows which come out really well and there is one good breeder who I know of who has a nice high yellow Jcp which he should be breeding this year.

It's always best to check the classifieds but be warned that alot of sellers claim to have high yellows for sale when in fact they are no different from normal Jcp's so be careful.

This guy is good -> UK Pythons - Investment quality pythons direct from the breeder
paul harris is a decent breeder and prolly one of the best uk carpet breeders , he is based in Stuttgart germany , but all his stock is available here
i got my jcp bindi from him and shes an absolute joy

Most of mine are from Paul also, you can't go wrong with UKpythons imo. If it's high yellow jungles in paticular you are after however, try Sunrise Reptiles - Captive bred pythons by Mark van Appeldorn & Danny den Heijer and Precision reptiles (site down at the min hence no link) just be prepared to pay big money

I would say that and average price for a Jcp would be around £100-£150, if you were looking for a high yellow specimen you would be looking around the £200+ mark.
