Default Hi All

Hi

I picked up my first JCP yesterday and she is a real beauty.
50% Jungle/Jag, roughly 18"-20".
She is a bit of a nipper but from what iv read most are, especially at Juvie stage, with daily handling this should dissapear soon.... I hope.
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? I have owned numerous snake/lizard/amphibian species in the past, but of course each on is unique!

Great care sheet by the way, very useful!!

hi,
i added 1.1 jcp to my collection last year (cb0.
Beautiful little snakes and cant wait to see what colour they turn out. get brighter with each shed, at present they are a white-ish grey, getting darker to velvet black.
only been tagged by my little guy and just the once but it was worth it
the guy i got them from runs a website called www.wolfboids.co.uk
there you will see the parents and some of the rest of his collection.
great care sheet by the way, keep up the good work

Hey, nice care sheet.

Just wondering if you had any info on the growth rate?

growth rate will depend on how you feed it along with what sub specie of morelai you go for, for jungles I would say around 2-3ft in the first year would be good and 3-5 in the second would eb good also but it depends on the snake and also wht you are feeding it. My hold back jungle/jas is just over the 2ft mark and nearly a year old so I consider that a good all round size.

Does anyone breed Carpet Pythons? I have been told that the majority of Carpet Pythons are really aggressive, but I have handled 2 which are of very good temperament.
Could anyone advise on this?

Baby carpets are generally a little nippy but then again you get this with all snakes, As long as you do regular handling sessions a carpet python should handle well, there are a few that will just not liked to be handled but you get snakes like that but in general a carpet will tame down well with handling.

Apparently Shirley Aquatics can order vivariums in any size, so now I can't decide what size to get for my carpet!

It's a roughly 2 month old baby so I don't know how big it's going to get. Just to clarify...I don't intend on putting the poor tiny thing in a huge vivarium! I'm keeping it in smaller containers now, but I want to get one set up to keep these smaller containers in.

Do I go for 3 high, 2 wide and 2 deep?
