I can't find anything anywhere about when to handle a new royal though.

We got our first one today, how long should we leave him alone in his RUB before we start getting him out to handle?
Also how long should we leave it before feeding?

Hi. My royal is about 18months old but i've only had him a week, he is great when i first get him out of the viv (only 10 to 15 mins aday) but when i put him back in the viv and go back to the glass he strikes out at me. Is this cos his still trying to settle down to the new viv. please get back to me on this. thanks karl

I'm guessing I'm a bit late?

But yeah, I'm guessing it was just while he was settling in. If he's still doing it then he should calm down with more handling, could also be because you're moving too quick.

I'm not sure if I'm honest!

I think it's just as the snake moves it gets moisture around the eyes & the humidity of being in the pillowcase help to loosen the caps.

hi ther ei have a question for you. hopefully you can help.

ive just gotten a new royal a few weeks back and she is being great with me which is good.

i think she is due to shed as she has all of the tell tale signs but it looks like there is a dent in her eye but i cant seem to get a very good look at it.

all i want to know is.... is it normal for a royals eye to go a bit funny like that when they are due to shed???

any help would be great as im new to this.... thanks

Hey.

I think that if there's a dent in the eye it' usually because the snake's a little bit dehydrated. What kind of setup have you got him/her in? Like, what substrate are you using, humidity, temps etc.

Try giving the snake a bath in warm water & make sure the water bowl's filled daily.

You could also try increasing humidity, when my royals are in shed I usually increase the humidity to around 70%.
