amelanistic means lacking melanin, in mamals it is more comonly known as albanism as mamals only produce melanin pigments making them completely pigmentless.

So im guessing the difference in albino and amel in corns is just to differantiate different levels of amelanism.

Technically, an Amelanistic (in corns) is exactly equivalent to an Albino mammal - both are missing the pigment melanin resulting in a pink-eyed animal with no black or dark brown. But because cornsnakes also have ANOTHER pigment (erythrin, which is red) an Albino cornsnake is red and yellow with red eyes instead of white with red eyes.

A shop might sell a "snow" (Anerythristic AND Amelanistic) as an "albino" however, because a "snow" looks more like the pink-eyed-white that people expect "albino" to be if they're thinking of white rabbits and mice.
