I know it's a long shot but if anyone has one of these, I will be looking at investing in one when my grant comes through next week. There will be cash ready at that point if anyone has a holdback they no longer need. Ideally het hypo but if not can wait an extra generation. Preferably an 08 or 09. I am hopefully getting a hypo bloodred male carrying snow so the intention is to get ghost bloodreds eventually. Obviously would also consider ghost bloodred female at the right price, trying to keep costs down!
Thanks
Kathy

I feel such a newbie and have been quite nervous about picking up any possibles in case I picked wrong so really appreciate the guidance. I have been offered a hypo bloodred male carrying "snow" (which I am assuming means het for amel and anery). He is from someone I trust implicitly. I would like to aim for making ghost bloodreds. I was advised to get a granite het for hypo as that would be at least visibly a match on most and cheaper than a ghost bloodred. I would think out of the two potential morphs KK has, the bloodreds would be more suitable BUT Ssthisto being able to guarantee the hets on the snow makes it very tempting too lol. I wish I had room for more than one now!

If the bloodreds het ghost are from Tom, I can definitely guarantee the het anerythristic (their dad is a granite and I can show you photos of him), and the het hypo is pretty darn sure (only reason I can't guarantee that one is because I didn't see Tikka, the hypo blood female, as a baby, and so she *could* be a light bloodred; I don't own her and haven't tested her against a homozygous hypo so I couldn't 100% guarantee that).
Technically speaking the snows het hypo blood are "just as good" as the bloodreds het ghost for what you want - you get an extra definite het in your babies (amel) but either way you have one visual trait and two heterozygous traits you need to match up.
If your goal was ghost blood, the Snows het hypo blood have a 1:8 chance of producing Ghost Blood with a Hypoblood het Snow partner, and will produce a wider range of potential offspring - more of a "rainbow clutch" but they will have 100% guaranteed hets (they'll all be 100% het hypo, amel, anery and bloodred). The bloodreds het ghost have a 1:8 chance of producing Ghost blood, and all offspring will be homozygous bloodred; you will not have the same guarantee of hets, as the offspring will only be 100% het hypo, and 66% het anery, 50% het amel.
