You don't need to keep with the mat, mats are crap.

I have the same set up as you, 3ft viv 150w ceramic, put the hide directly under the bulb, tape down stat probe and thermometer probe, alter stat until the thermometer reads around about 90 degrees.

Job done.

I have used this and my three year old royal loves it, no problem.

Too many possible problems with mats.

where do you put probe when you measure 32 degrees?

i put the probe under ceramic on floor and was reading 32c but when its in the hot side cave which was right next to probe it was cold as my royal was in there and i took her out and she was cold.

so its not heat hide up anuff but rest of viv is hot, cold side was 25c

Default Trust me!!!!

Put cave/hide under the bulb/guard.

Put probe of stat and thermometer on top of cave/hide stick down with some decent tape, make sure its firmly down.

Set stat to a temperature between 88-95 degrees fahrenheit.

Job is done. Seriously stick to ceramics forget about mats.

She be fine, she be enjoying the ambient temp of the warm air. The hotspot is there for when she needs it, after food for example to help digest it, if it was too hot she'd die.

She needs to thermoregulate i think the posh word is, which she will be able to do, nicely in your set up, as I say its the same as one of mine.

Never had one problem no RI's like in rub's, if you use a mat you MUST keep the room at an ambient temp of 80-85 degrees which is an arse if you only got one snake because that will cost you, in money for extra heating.

Keep the ceramic set up, seriously.....just make sure you have a spare bulb for when it blows.
