Default Corn Isle boa update...

Well almost 3 months on since my female Corn Isle boa was diagnosed with conclusive IBD via autopsy, ALL my boids are acting normal ie eating, pooping and shedding perfectly. There are no signs or symptoms in any of my snakes, including my pythons.

Since Clementine and Beaux were directly next to each other in the rack I would assume that he would be most likley to contract the virus. They were also half siblings so if the IBD came from the breeder, I would have thought Beaux would be affected by now.

I am currently saving up for invasive and complex liver and kidney biopsies to test for IBD in Beaux as a live animal.

But for now here is my huge and apparently healthy boy (in dark phase).

It's really difficult to come to terms with in all honesty, but what can I do apart from deal with it. Or cull my entire collection and play the blame game....

Thank you, I'll be sure to post the results of whichever snakes end up getting biopsies done.

I've been thinking about the cost of testing your snakes. The cost will run into several thousands to get the all clear... Is it worth that amount of money to find out?

At the moment I only want to know about Beaux. And yes, the cost is worth it if the proceedure is not too much risk to a smaller boa.

I have some adult boas which could never have the biposies done due to their size. For example I have an adult male carinata who only weighs 28 grams. What vet could possibly get a biopsy without killing him in the process...

I haven't spared any expense in vet bills so far, why start now?

Biopsies are the ONLY true way to confirm whether a boid does or doesn't have IBD and I think more people should be aware of this.

You would need the all clear on all your snakes for it to be worth considering....
IMO..... Everything dies at some point, all you will be doing is finding out that Beaux is either going to die or not going to die from IBD....
IMO that is a waste of money....
If you were testing to establish which, if any need to be culled to start breeding, I could understand it.....
All or nothing IMO or it's pointless.
