Post Corn snake behaviour change

Hi all,

This is my first post about my first little snakey .

He/she was born in October 2013. His name is Ness and he's and Amel corn snake.
He has eaten twice and the feedings were fine. He are two 1 day old pinkies on the Monday just gone and they went down a treat. He seemed happy and was happy being held - really explorative so all good signs.

However on about Wednesday his behaviour seemed to change, usually he's out when the lights are off exploring - I know this because on the morning his hemp was full of digging holes and when I turned the light on he was always out exploring.
Now he isn't doing that, he stayed in one of his hides for a couple of days without coming out, even when the lights were out (I kept checking on him).
I thought I saw his eyes go milky but they are not so much any more and his skin doesn't look light enough to shed.
He came out and went to the toilet yesterday and had a big drink when I lifted one hide to see how he was.

Viv set up is light during day, heat mat on thermostat set to come on if temp drops to 27.

Any advice would be great.
I'm sure I'm just overreacting but just nervous.

Cheers guys
Rowan

If Ness is shedding his/her colours will go back to normal for a few days before the skin comes off. The behaviour you've described sounds completely normal before shedding.
CloudForest and Jguzek like this.

My corn has done exactly the same, I'm new aswell. He hasn't moved from his warm side for days. It's funny as every time I would Hoover he would pop out and explore but hoovered today and sees stayed in his hide, must have a thing for hoovers. He's got blue eyes and skin all dull. Lifted up his hide today just to check him and you can he's due to shed.

Lol, Ness like the Hoover and music.
Our beardy however puffs his beard at the Hoover if he hears it.

Nice to know that Behaviour seems normal - I thought I was over reacting but I just can't help but worry.

if his eyes looked milky and he is hiding its almost a cert he is shedding.

Its natural to be nervous if it is your first snake

Little dudes shed very regularly.

make sure the water is fresh otherwise leave him alone. In a few days you will find him sitting in the middle of his box looking beautiful and pleased with himself with the old skin kicking around somewhere.

Honestly don't worry. It seems to take AGES!!!! but its fine. Don't bother to try to feed him, just make sure he has water and leave him totally alone.

Water is changed daily. Wasn't going to feed anyway as I've heard you should just leave them to it.

Thanks for all the advice so far
