Have you tried the I want to be a vet routine? Using educational reasons is a surefire way to get parents to surrender. Explain to him that Python regius is not a pet but a something that you wish to study as an enthusiast with a view to specialising in herpetology. Add lots of detail, use big words and download career guides etc. It may work.

Rohypnol and a big pit...
I discovered that showing you've done loads of research and keep piling information on them about how you know how to do this and that. And also don't mention the rodents in the freezer and anything like "I know what do if it stops feeding" ect. Basically make a point that you know everything about them... If that fails, just get one and say it's too late to take it back. Good luck! |

My parents are exactly the same! Since me and my sister smuggled in a mum and her kitten
we're not allowed any more snakes or lizard, despite having 1 of each so wouldnt be to much hassle. Ive tried the educational route, esp as im doing an Animal Care course which has led me no where ![]() How about leaving hints around the house? A piccie of a royal on the fridge or summing... I gave my mum a leopard gecko book for mothers day hehe

As rough as it seems, if your folks are dead set against having a snake in the house, there's little you can do about it. I wouldn't recommend sneaking one in. Try to explore his reasons for not wanting any more pets in the house. If it's a general " no more animals" then I suspect he probably had a hard time dealing with the loss of a long-term pet and doesn't want to go through that again. If he has specific reasons for not wanting a snake, have reseached and reasoned arguments to counter them. Ultimately though, it's his house and you have to respect his wishes. I had the same when i was a youngster, my mother would not tolerate snakes in the house. My wife doesn't like snakes but respects my wish to keep them providing certain guidelines are adhered to, no giant snakes, not to collect hordes of them and all vivs to be secure.
Good luck though |

Get them out somewhere to a zoo or a pet shop (deception may be necessary), and by chance there might be a handling session going on. Get them to actually meet and hold a Royal, they will fall in love with it. And Bingo you can have a snake.
Ive yet to meet someone who can resist falling for the cuteness once they've actually been in contact with them, they really are the most adorable animals.
