If he hasn't moved off his heat mat and now has sores on his belly sounds like he has been sitting on an unstatted heat mat and has burnt himself!
Get him to the vet asap

It could also be scale rot... Has his substrate been damp ?

To be honest, (without pics) it sounds like scale rot or there is a slight possibility its uric acid burns, where the snake may have been lying in its own faeces/urine. If the heat source is statted and under control, it shouldn't be burns. If left untreated it could become infected, an antiseptic such as tamodine or any iodine based antiseptic is a good start. I have a Medivet one, forgotten the name, for cuts, grazes etc and it works a treat. If its at all swollen or looking inflamed, vets soon as, to prevent the infection getting into the blood stream. Hopefully, he'll be right as rain before long.
