Default She F*****G Missed!

Well it was feeding night tonight at the zoo. Went through my usual routine only this time my friends teenage daughter was down to watch how the snakes were fed etc as her mother is currently reading up on snakes and how to look after them with the intention to purchase one.

As you can see from my signature I have a CCP, lovely big girl she is and I've always been wary of her strike range. However, in saying this she normally NEVER misses her prey item. The one night I have someone in to see how it's done she misses the mouse and gets me, bearing in mind I'm using 12" feeding tongs as well. My 6.5ft CCP managed to get hold of my first two fingers and wrapped herself around me the tongs and the mouse! It didn't actually hurt, I was expecting it to be more painfull, but hey I'm not complaining. Eve my CCP was determind that my hand was the mouse, so I calmly called to my husband to bring me the bottle of alchohol hand rub with the intention of putting some on a paper towel then onto her nose to get her to let go. My husbands response was "why can't you get it yourself?" my response "I have a Carpet Python attached to my hand!" Sorry had to rant about the hubby!

Anyway cut a long story short she released as soon as I removed the lid off the bottle. I think she must have smelt it or finally realised my hand was NOT the mouse. Blood everywhere and poor Courtney still looking on I calmly closed the viv, cleaned my hand and put a plaster on. I then asked her the BIG question, "do you still want your mum to get a snake?" Her reply was yes as she said it didn't look sore after I had washed it.

So for all the blood thirsty people out there here's the before and after pics;

This pic was taken about 1 hour after the bite was cleaned, it's amazing all that blood for just a couple of little pin pricks! Got a nice little bruise on my first finger now though!

reminds me of 1983 when my not so nice Retic decided to eat my hand instead of the rabbit
Looked like my hand had been torn off judging by all the blood after I washed it there was only a few small tears

Oh, I'd take 100 bites from snakes all at once before taking a bite from a mouse or a rat!
