Default Backup generator

Last night our electricity went off for 2 hours and another 2 hours this morning. The temp in the rep room dropped 10 deg F both times but luckily the incubator only dropped a few degrees and didn't go below 79 deg F but it made me think maybe I ought to consider a backup generator.

Does anyone have experience of these and what type would you recommend for emergencies?

We have a small one outside, it is diesel generated and cost us £125 new from costco. If our electric goes off it automatically kicks in and powers our incubator and 4 wall mouted radiators to keep the room at a steady 80.

They are a great cheap investment.

We used toi have power outs all the time.
So I bought a generator.
They the lecky board guys turned up and replaced all the undergroud cables.
Never had a problem since, so the generator has never been used.

Ours in similar to the one below

Sumo 4 Stroke Petrol Generator 2000W - Screwfix.com, Where the Trade Buys

My other halfs grandfather is a retired sparky so just installed an electrical cut-out system into our external meter so that upon electric being recived the generator is fired up via a remote start (optional we paid £50 for this) and hey presto everything is sorted. Our cables run in chanelling on the side of the house and direct in to our animal room in to a circuit breaker then to a standard extension lead and then our radiators and incubator are plugged in to that!
