Default Any ideas

Hi all

I know there is lots of threads about mites but i was wondering anyone had any ideas
I have just discovered that both my ATBs and my IJ carpet python have got mites when i have had them before i used mite off spray, with the ij this is fine cos she is tame and i can handle her with ese but the ATBs a different story if you know what i mean, so i want to know whats the easyest way to restrain/de mite and if there is anything i can use to make sure they dont return!

Thanks JS

i have found the most successful way of getting rid of mites is by using frontline, oil and milton.

1st - empty viv and soak all non electrical items in a bath of milton for as least 2 hours, then rinse with hot water and allow to fully dry.

2nd - clean viv with hot soapy water, dry, then spray viv with frontline, leave for 30 mins then rewash viv with hot soapy water and dry.

3rd - use cotton wool to wipe snake down with frontline using sparingly and avoid head, for head cover generously with oil (vegetable or olive oil) then wipe excess leaving a small film on snakes head.

4th - put newspaper in viv with one small hide, and a small water bowl, for 24 hours (this gives time to treat rest of equipment, dry it and time for frontline to start working)

Finally if no further signs of mites, everything can be put back to normal, and hopefullyno more mites.

this is the method i use and have found it successful and the mites have not returned in the last year.

Dont forget to dry the snake thoroughly before oiling otherwise the water will be trapped and cause some damage to the scales

i know recently the frontline spot on has had a changed to the licence which allows shops to sell it providing they had the correct traing, but the spray is still on original licence so can only be obtained from a vet,
