Default Live Feeding Laws

So...

...in reponse to the thread http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/snake...ding-laws.html

Perhaps this can be opened up for some debate as the one above was closed before people could have their say.

Oh I was just interested in others thoughts on the subject.

That's all.

a lot of it was done to death at the time, and all discussions on this subject end in the same arguments, ie people arguing about the ethics of it and confusing facts with opinion. The thread was locked to keep the relevant data available.

Most people have no opinion on it other than they would/wouldn't do it. Then the woulds argue with the would nots until the thread is locked. Also toss in the odd person who thinks it IS illegal and will argue with everyone until someone points out they don't actually know what they are on about

It'd be interesting to see if the law develops further on the subject, although I can't see it being the case any time in the near future.

What Mason has said is pretty much what I would expect from a live feeding thread on a snake forum, assuming the live food to be rodents.

What do people think about feeding live fish? and why might peoples views be different between fish and mice?

well said Snickers.

I never feed my Pirhana's live fish, all their diet is frozen and then carefully thawed.

But then, not wanting to stir, we feed live crickets, worms and locusts to our leo's and beardies......

This could go on for ages, so not to upset anyone, or cause a stir, I will retain my opinion to myself and only share as above with my pirhana's

That's not contraversial. The guidance I think is about vertebrates. Inverts are a different can of worms

My stance on the feeding of live vertebrates is that it doesn't need to be done.... until it needs to be done. if that makes sense. i also now believe having had to try it myself that cerain species of snake that will never adjust to a rodent diet such as langahar and Ahaetulla species shouldn't really be in the pet trade.
