Reptile Radiator vs Ceramic Heater

Hi guys

I was using a reptile radiator to heat one side of by boas viv and a infa red bulb to heat the other side. All was good for around 3 years. About 2 weeks ago the radiator started to give off a strange smell just before packing in,it was like a strong warm plastic smell which it had never done before. After buying a brand new one,the new one is giving off the same smell. Has anyone else had experience with the radiators? Has it happened to them too?

Im considering switching over to a ceramic heater instead and i was just curious if a simple on/off thermostat would be fine for use with them? As that would save me having to fork out for a pulse or dimming one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,thanks!

I've had my radiators going for a number of years now with no problems, I also think they are gauranteed so you could send them back for replacement or fixing. I do remember though that you do get a strange smell when you start them up for the first time. This will dissapate after a day or so and start running as you would expect.

Ok thanks mate. Ive had it running for a few days now so ill just give it a while longer,admittedly the smell doesnt seem to be as strong now but ill keep my eye on it.
