I wouldn't bother trying to watch at the moment - let him settle in for a bit and get some confidence first.
I'd give him a week or two, then when you feed, arrange things so that you can see the pinky, lower the lights as much as possible and keep very still - he'll pick up on movement more than just the fact that you're watching. If he realises you're there then give up and give him another week before trying again. When he's a bit older (1 year+) and on larger food you could get some tongs and get him strike feeding/constricting. Some won't do it, but most of mine have. You could try it sooner with pinkies/tweezers but it'd be a bit fiddly and it might freak him out, so I'd let him grow a bit first. |

Thanks folks.
Just impatient I guess. We'll give it a few more weeks. Seems to be getting used to being handled now, doesn't like being taken out but fine when it's out. I really would like to be able to stop calling it "it". Are there any external hints as to male or female or do we have to wait for it to be big enough to do it properly. |

can you train a responce from them.
What i mean is if you just plonk the pinkie in a box with the baby corn, will he just "slither" up to the pinkie and eat it. Or can you entice the strike by holding the pinkie out for him to go at. Slapshot |
