She is a radiated rat snake and the mother to the eggs I have incubating at the moment.
The first 2 photos show her at rest. You can see that her body shape is higher than it is wide. The species does not and should not have round bodies like their North American cousins. She is very relaxed in the photographs, she just shed this morning so is looking particularly bright and colourful.
This species gets irritated and 'annoyed' by anything that happens unexpectedly. This results in them inflating their necks to make themselves look bigger.
Here she is showing mild irritation at being picked up... but this is a long long way from a 'bad' session where she will lift the front of her body off the ground, gape her mouth and launch herself at me... that is usually saved for when I put her back in her viv and she is back in familiar and 'safe' surroundings.
thats a pretty snake there Steve..i like the yellow colouration

What does dad look like? Ie does he have the same strength of yellow?
No Dan, he is much more subtlely coloured than she is... he is more unpredictable in behaviour too. She leaves you in no doubt as to her mood from the moment she knows you are about, whereas he can be as calm as a corn snake one second then get spooked by something... someone else entering the room is often a good trigger.
