Default feed or freeze???

im a member of another forum lol
the current debate is one of intergrades, somebody made a mistake of putting a male and a female of 2 different species of garter snake intogether for a short time, as it wasnt breeding season she didnt think any harm would come of it so she wouldnt have any issues.....................
but now she has been left with a little of intergrades, the young are absolutely stunning. the current debate is that some people think the litter should be frozen (euthanised) or used as food for other snakes, while others are offering them homes where they can live out their lives without the risk of them being bred and spoiling any blood lines.
Whats your opinion?

I would offer them to homes where they wouldnt be bred, though of course there would be no guarantee of this in the long run. Dont agree with euthanising healthy snakes just because some people are not happy they are not pure bred.

Hi,

My opinion is that freezing them is a totally unsuitable way to euthanise, it will not be pain free like people assume! If it were me i would rehome them, as long as they sold or given away on the understanding that they are not pure bloodlines and may be more suitable as pets then there shouldn't be an issue.

keep no snake should be killed (unless absautely nescaserry. and this isnt absalutely nescaserry) its lyk sayin if two diffrent dogs bred and produced something you didnt want you would kill that.

Why did she incubate if she didnt want them is the first thing that springs to mind. and freezing is an incredibly inhumane way to euthanise them , the blood thickens in the veins before they die and it is extremely painful.

Wow, dont think I'd mention to some of those people that I have mixed Irish blood in me way back in my family history, and I'm not pure English (whatever that is ). I couldnt see the pics.

Might be me being stupid, but stopping them breeding in the future is to prevent deformaties? Like humans who interbreed (that sounds wrong)?

I believe they're livebearers.
