absolute waste in my opinion mate and here's why.
I treat my boa with them, they took three weeks to work and by that time he was seriously pissed and each day it crushed me to watch him writhing around and jerking from them crawling over his scales. they mites actually (despite following all guidlines to the T) didnt 100% work and they came back a few weeks later. this time I threw all his viv contents out, bathed him, frontlined him and in 1 single hour the mites were gone. frontlined him again a week later and have never had any since. unfortunately his termperament since then has changed and he is far less pleasant to own. he may relax but the mites experience has really changed him. not the approach for me mate- 3 weeks versus 1 hour- i know which one I'd choose. |

with respect that is an opinion on which fact can not be based. your opinion= try them they worked for me my opinion= dont try them they didnt work for me 'get it right and they will work'= a statement that may not come true |

with respect so is your opinion and thats all yours is so its no different than mine. frontline however can cause health problems for your reptiles and even when used in excess has caused death so i prefer a more natural solution. i didnt post on here to get into a silly argument with the likes of you and that seems to be a common problem on here. they take longer to get the same result as frontline but give no health issues and im sure most people would agree thats the point in getting rid of the mites in the first place so i for one will not ad another potential health problem to it. MY OPINION

Ive seen some snakes having convulsions when frontline hasnt been used properly so I dont like using it. I once had a problem with some adult BCI's that arrived to me riddled with mites and they where very anemic and the vet injected them with ivermectin. Worked a treat.

I've used the predatory mites and it seems to have worked ok for me, not seen any mites since.
The only downside I found was having to empty all the substrate out of the vivs and replace with soil, this can be a big job if you have a lot of vivs like I do, then you have to keep the humidity up. The predatory mites wont do the work and wont survive long enough to kill the snake mites if they are put on substrate or newspaper, they will only work on soil. I kept my snakes like this for 4 weeks and then cleaned the vivs (messy job with all the soil) then replaced with substrate. Final result... Clean vivs and mite free snakes. |
