What an excellent post, clear, unarguable and much needed this really does need to be stickied as I for one am fed up trying to emphasise the need for thermostats.

can you not buy mats anywhere that only heat up to like 30celsius?( 86f)

I mean i want to get a wandering violin mantis at some point, maybe a few, buying many matstats gets pricey, i just wish there was a mat that was just warm...( although wandering violin mantis can take temps of over 122f..they like it hot, although i'd aim for like 30-35c)

either save up or if you cant afford it then dont get the pet in the first palce till you can afford it. dont cut corners.
