Default Heatmat help

right, I used a piece of old lino to cover my heat mat to negate the risk of my cali king getting the terminal block wet are pooing on it, the only problem I have is, the ground temperature isn't warm enough, about 23 degrees C, I have the probe from the thermostat under the cover on the heatmat, but I was wondering if I should move the probe to on top of the cover, so it detects that temperature

thanks for your help

lol, I have turned the stat up, but its a Habistat so not the most accurate (when I bought it, I didn't know which was the best stat to get), but I'm gonna try putting the probe on top and see if that sorts is, and soon as I get the chance I'm gonna buy a better stat, any suggestions on which to get?

Habistats are the best ones around IMO.... If you having problems because you have reached the upper limit just do as you suggested and move the probe... That should sort it!

I'd certainly try putting it on top since thats where you require the correct temps.

Since lino is a very good insulator it may prove hard to get the temp high enough on the top side to reach the desired setting.

I wouldn't worry about your snake crapping on the terminal either. More your snake burning itself on the mat if not controlled properly.

yeah that ws the main worry the snake burning it self, and with the probe on top and the stat set to a slightly higher temp, everything is fine, I can also feel a warm spot right under its hide and the temperature seems stable so hopefully I have got it sorted
