In snakes, you would generally be looking at pure bloodlines as pedigrees. Paperwork can be used to confirm these bloodlines. A good example would be buying a pure bloodline jungle carpet python versus a jungle carpet which has been bred with a coastal carpet, creating a jungle carpet x coastal intergrade. These intergrades are sometimes difficult to tell apart from the real McCoy.
Another example where paperwork is essential relates to the various recessive royal morphs available in the market. Ideally, a buyer of hetrozygous offspring should be seeking some sort of paperwork from the breeder/supplier confirming the morph/bloodline. There are plenty of other examples, but this is to just give you an idea. Regards Rob www.royalmorelia.co.uk |
