I have a male hognose and he is gorgeous. They are rear fanged and mildly venomous, they can hood and hiss but are usually all bluff.
They like to burrow and are fairly easy to keep. They don't grow huge and are generally good feeders. I really like them and thing they make a great addition to a collection

I have a female laying tonight with just a few hiss' when I check on her other than that she's let me take 4 of her 7 eggs out as she was churning them about laying the others!
I keep my adults in a 3 x 2 x 2ft viv with just a red bulb for heat on a dimmer stat with a bulb guard for their protection. Have to say I've never seen either of the girls try to get that close to the light but better to be safe than sorry. I love them so much that's all I keep now, had a few visual issues with some of my other reps so they've had to go bit by bit, I would certainly say have a hognose. |

hoggies are brill little snakies.yes there can be reactions to thier venom!! but this is isn't the norm. like bee/wasp stings people react in diff ways.
hoggies have an amazing character, they like to hiss and hood but it is generally all bluff and only happens when you invade thier space( viv/rub). they're fine when out and being handled( like all creatures you must treat them with respect tho). i have a female, she is 1 yr old. shes pretty tame, hisses sometimes, but if she does i just leave her, but most time i go to get her out she is fine. i am warey of her due to all the claims of people saying their bites have been terrible, i think if you do plenty research and treat the snake with respect and dont push your luck with getting it out if its in a mood, then it should be ok, they are nice snakes, but some people are put off by thier hissing, its a little scary sometimes.

I have always been interested in Hognoses and about 3 years ago managed to acquire a Trio of them, I bred them last year getting 9 babies and this year bred from both females and had a total of 23 babies and have about 12 left for sale at £50.0 each if you're interested let me know.
