well for a few months now, in a few vivs (royals) ive been using shredded paper as substrate
this leaflets/letters and general stuff (nothing with adhesive/gum) shredded with a diamond cut shredder (the points are curled up so nothing sharp). yes its printed paper but theres only a certain percent thats printed and u can tell from general white colour theres not much print) so far ir all seems great, reasonable to clean, looks better than newspaper (though obviously not as good as aspen or chips) and is free/recycled havent yet used on my corns or king but they might like it too/more since it it quite fluffy until its compressed by a big fat royal ![]() just though id see whats people thoughts are on this? any body else using it? would have posted a "would it be a good idea?" thread before doing it but think id have got telling offs or dunnos/ try it and let us know

i did use newspaper for a while for the royals but its not attractive is it? but then im talking about vivs. i guess in a rack , newspaper might be best.
and thing my corns and king would be deprived in newspaper, they like the occasional burrowing session

I used to use shredded paper when 'hibernating' ratsnakes. It worked really well.

It sounds likes a great idea to me and takes the idea of recycling that mountain of private mail to a new level.
If everyone thinks it is a safe and reasonable option I would definitely consider it myself. Tara xxx Last edited by Starshine Tara; 20-09-2008 at 11:14 PM.. |
