I'm a member of an aquarist society that holds auctions every couple of months for animals and equipment.
I thought this was a good idea and wondered if anyone else did too?
It's held at a pub near me in castleford and we wouldn't have to worry about licencing really as they already have permission from the council to hold the auctions...
\would anyone be interested in going or selling?
Obviousley they wouldn't be monthly but maybe once every 3 months?
It's a really good way to pick up cheap equipment, I get UV starters for a couple of quid, 2ft tanks for £3, mopani wood for a quid and bog wood for a couple of quid...
We'd travel to leeds for an auction specificaly for reps and equipment, it's a fab idea. There's a serious lack of events of this kind up this way (unless I'm missing summert lol).

I know, apart from doncaster show there's nothing!
I'm going to talk to the pub this weekend about licensing and costs of room rental.
We could make it an official RFUK auction?
Have one north, one south and one midlands?
After all the IHS northern branch meets in castleford...
I think it's a fab idea. Everything is getting so expensive to buy new and with fuel costs rising delivery and pick up can be expensive also. Let us know what they say, I'm sure there's be a few people that'd help with advertisment and stuff.

Will Do
But I can't see there being any problem, seeing as they have their license from the council already x
It's a good idea regarding equipment. but when you're giving animals away to anyone who'll bid on them it's dangerous ground. If the buyer isn't aware on the care of the species, or have correct setup ready etc. then there's potentially one dead animal.
