I have to be honest and say I have been bitten by my corn snakes (currently have 22 snakes and have been keeping them for 10 years - got my first at 15 and i have to say my mother really hated them back then, but loves them and handles all snakes like a pro now)

I have been bitten by some aggressive adults - if you don't buy an aggressive adult then aggression is not usually a problem. If you buy a hatchling and handle it, then it is unlikely to ever bite you... unless you smell like a mouse. Always wash hands after handling food.

When I have been bitten it barely hurts, they don't have teeth per se, no fangs, just a jagged serrated sort of jawline that grips rather than pierces. Often a young corn snake can not even draw blood.

I can tell you that being bitten by a hamster is 5x as painful!!

ANY pet has the ability to injure you - rodents can bite, cats can scratch, in fact, if you want something that has absolutely no chance of biting you out of fear or because of food, you might as well stick to goldfish.

The point is that being bitten by a corn snake is extremely rare and does little-no damage and little-no pain.

I've been bitten about 10 times by corn snakes but all by the same 2 adult corn snakes who are very very very food orientated and were fed in the viv by their previous owners and never handled. Tagged a few times by babies straight from the egg when I wasn't paying attention.

Ive been bitten about 5 times by king snakes, 5 times by one bull snake who found me tasty, tagged a lot by baby brazilian rainbows and got hit once by a royal.. that took me by suprise.

None of them really hurt. Dreading getting hit by my amazon tree boas though, and I know it's gonna happen!

PS. I'm pretty slow and a little complacent, and don't really mind being bit because honestly, my hamster used to bite me every other week when i was a teenager and that hurt a lot more! And I've seen a rat bite do 50x as much damage as a snake bite.

i reckon that statements alot more relavent to a king, ive never been bitten by a corn, once buy a carpet python and many many times by king snakes

Picking up a corn in shed's never been an issue but a couple of kings i had were vicious when in shed, texas rats and radiated rats are also frequent biters too

Corn snakes are rat snakes. If they feel frightened or insecure they will bite just like any other snake.
