Default new reptile room

i got the green light today off my girlfriend to build a reptile/snake room in my garage whoop!!! so off i went to b&q to buy my wood and today got the floor and most of the frame up. the room is 8 foot wide by 9 foot long by 6 foot high i will post pics of it as i progress with the build im just wondering if any one has there own reptile room outdoors and if they do how do they heat it? or if any external(not in the viv) heat will be needed because the room will be fully insulated.

im no bulider (im 14) but my grandad is in the building trade so ill give you a few tips

try to layer the walls, as in breeze block, air gap, breeze block air gap then the insulating foam

i think you could use a sperate heating device, (simelar to a sauna, ie electric radiators) on a relay from the house, if you can keep the heat up high, the rep room will cost less to heat from heat mats etc...

Sounds really good. I'm looking to have a rep room in the future (wife will not be easy to persuade) and from what I've heard its best to have some form of heating for the room then your mats/bulbs only have to warm a basking area rather than the whole viv.

thanks rybuzz i have left an air gap between the walls and the celing and im filling them with rock wool (similar to loft insulation) i see what both of you are saying though heat the room then my heat lamps etc do not have to work as hard (good idea)
