Default Is my red-tail a true red-tail?

a thread on here has got me worried now - shops selling common or common cross as red-tailed boas.

my young red-tailed boa has got a red-tail, but compared to some others i've seen its a pretty poor one. Its never really occurred to me before as i have a common too and they are completely different.

i have no way of posting pictures so i wandered if there's a way to positvely id a red-tail some other way like by type of patteren, background colour or number of saddles or something?

i always assumed he was just a not so vibrant example - but i've seen many like him in the same shop so....are they just poor examples or is it because they're young or what?

if possible perhaps someone could post a pic of a young boa or one with a poor tail so can compare

Not all true red tails have true bright red tails what shape are the saddle markings, hour glass shaped are more likely a common BCI, although wild red-tails have been recorded with hour-glass shapped saddle markings. What will be distinctive to say is def true red tail is if the saddle markings are bat shaped.

This is my young Suriname. You can clearly see his widows peaks on his saddles which make them resemble bats.
