Default Delivered frozen food

Does anyone else have this prob when ever I order frozen food it is always beginning to defrost when it arrives.

My last order was for 50 day old chicks, five weaner rats, 5 mouse fuzzies and 5 mouse pinks. The ice pack was frozen solid but the pinks and the fuzzies were completely thawed and the weaners beginning to soften.

The chicks were OK so I put them and the weaners in the freezer but now I'm not sure if the weaners will be OK to use.

Where did you get the food from, please?

I'm just thinking of placing my first ever order for frozen stuff to be delivered, and don't want to be disappointed.

Refreezing stuff can make it mushy but, more importantly, it can begin to go off as it thaws out and refreezing it just preserves in a "slightly gone off" state.

Not sure I'd want to risk it, but not sure I'd want to throw it away either.

try ordering more if you can, the more you order, the more chance it will stay frozen.

Then again, i ordered £130 worth of food from keizebrink, and it was all pretty much defrosted by the time it got here so wont be using them again.

think i ordered something like 100 med mice, 50 jumbo mice, 400 pinks, 50 fuzzies and 4kg of chicks so it should have been frozen!

Triple eight (888 reptiles). They are normally very good on normal deliveries but this is the second frozen one to arrive thawed.
I think the way it was packed was at fault, everything just looked thrown in together and the smaller items were not in contact with the ice.
Also although it was next day delivery they dipatched them in the morning and the parcel was in transit well over 24 hrs.

Thanks Gaz.

TSM look good.

Pleased to see they give the approximate weight of the food item, which suits me as I always weigh food. It makes it easier to know what you've given something rather than the more vague "fuzzy" or "medium" description.

Are you going to Rodbaston next Sunday as you can buy frozen there?
Graham.

I order from Raptor and Reptile Food from Honeybrook Animal Foods. They deliver their own goods in a freezer van . They have a fixed schedule where they deliver every 1 , 2 or 4 wks depending on where you live .

It will be worth your while to make a much bulkier order, to be honest with that small an order I think it would be pretty impossible to guarantee it remains frozen, surely it's cheaper to buy locally than make such a small order with the delivery costs?

I have never had a problem with frozen arriving defrost but I tend to order £500+ at a time so they keep each other frozen solid.
