Default Heating big enclosures?

We are building a new viv for my burm 10 foot wide 5 foot high and 5 foot deep we were thinking of using an oil filled radiator or a panel heater covered of course, run by a stat via a relay with a ceramic as a basking spot.

How do you heat your big enclosures?

how big you thinking? a reptisun 160w is recommended for big zoo type enclosures, what temps do you need?

just seen its for a bloody big burm, if you get a chance look up cold blooded reptile shop and give them a call, he has 2 huge burms and a similar sized set up, surely you would only need to heat part of the viv

Now if tramps stopped buying sherry they could build themselves one in no time. Be nice and warm for them.

Although back on subject... with a viv that size i think the OP should possibly ask monitor bloke on the lizards section. He's turned his loft into a huge viv for his monitors so might have a better idea on whats needed.

Either that or a plank of wood with a few spotlights along it

Couple of radiant heat panels connected to a good thermostat will heat it just fine.

Default good heater for big enclosures

this is what id use mate. realy good! has its own built in stat. cold to touch also. MICROCLIMATE AHS - ADVANCED HEATING SYSTEM
An AHS unit is a complete system comprising a ceramic infra-red heating element, a polished reflector and a pulse proportional thermostat housed in an easy to fit metal enclosure.

It features an independent cut-out for controlled initial warm-up and is believed to be the safest heater on the market as the heat is cut off if the temperature of the case exceeds 70 deg.C.

<B><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 13.5pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">This means that an animal should not burn itself if it touches the case and makes it particularly suitable for snakes, negating the need for a heat guard.
