Default Corn Snake Weights

I have 2 Corn Snakes of the same age (15 & 17 months) but they vary significantly in weight. They are both well and eat with no problem.

Jasper was 5-6 months when I got him (born September 2007) and weighs 158g. He mostly sleeps. He is eating small mice (one every 7-8 days).

Chico was 14 months when I got her (born July 2007) and weighs just 74g! She is very active, often on the move in her viv. She is eating large fluffs/ crawlers (1-2 every 5 -6 days).

As they are both well I am not unduly concerned but just wanted to ask if such a weight difference in similar-aged Corn snakes was "normal"? Can I put the difference down to their activity levels? Or is it a gender-related issue?

If you have Corn snakes of a similar age I would be interested to know what they weigh.
Thanks.

if they are feeding/shedding/drinking/toilet-ing (!) ok then i wouldnt worry..are they the same morph of corn? Weve found our motleys took ages to get going and were considerably smaller than the others of the same year/month, but once they hit 3years old theyve now shot up..same applied for the blizzard..whereas the amels are just fatties and seemed to grow like weeds! as long as they seem in good health i wouldnt worry..out of curiosity, are they kept together or separate? We had two kept together two young, and one started regurgitating - they were separated but the 'stress' of being with the other gave her a slower start..if yours a kept separate though and all the above seems fine, it could just be an individual morph/snake thing.

Don't woryy I have two exactly the same, both the same age but one is half the size, as long as they're healthy don't worry about it.

Thanks thalie knights & claire.

Fatty is an amel, thinny is an anery. They have always lived in seperate vivs.

It's interesting to hear about your different morphs growing at different rates.

As they are both well I shall just put it down to normal variability. If I didn't have 2 Corns of a similar age I wouldn't even have noticed!

wouldn't worry about it as they are eating, pooing and shedding as they should. one of my snows has always been way behind the other despite them being similar age, but she eats fine and is just been a bit slow growing up. my other snow and my amel are pretty much identical in size but there's a good six-eight months difference of age, the amel is way younger.

corns i've had in the past have shown a simlilar variation of size and weight also, but i have always followed the same pattern of feeding and husbandry that i do now. it just seems that snakes can be like people some are natural short arses (like myself) and some grow up and mature far more quickly. it doesn't indicate poor health or care as long as they doing everything they should be like eating etc.

When my corn reached 1 year old (July) she weighed 150g. I always feed an appropriate sized mouse once a week, regular as clockwork she has never refused a meal. She's about 180g now

As said b4, I wouldn't worry about it as long as they are both healthy. I have an 07 Anery that weighs 190g and an 07 Snow that only weighs 75g. There's only a few months between them. But their both healthy and well.

Our yearling king is only around 71g but eats fine. Some just grow slower than others, the male corn grew quickly. OT but we have 2 sibling female leos (march 08 ) and one less than half their age who is already heavier.

How strange, my skinny one is also Anery, although the reasons are more clear cut, she had problems re-gurging EVERYTHING for a long time, took me a while to get her back on track but she's all caught up now!
