whoops just started another thread about these Komplement ikea boxes, the ones at the bottom, are they the 100x58cm ones? do you think there are any plusses or minus for having not see thru tubs? ie light for the snakes etc etc etc.

cheers

yes they are the 100x58 ones ive found not having them see through allowes the snakes to feel more secure and safe. But altho they do let abit of light through im unsure as to if the snakes can class it as daytime and night time. Obv they get the night time when no lights are on at all but its if the light that gets through during the day is enough to give them day light hours.

No offence but for christ sake they are ikea tubs and not RUBs. Every thread now regarding bloody tubs has everyone calling all makes blooming RUBs lol.

Rant over!

Nice rack though mate looking good! How do you find the tubs at the top getting them in and out as from what i can see they are not in channels or the like so getting them all aligned is that not a problem?

I am not trying to start an argument but an adult female boa in a 100 x 58 tub really is skimping a little. I kept my adult females in a rack similar to this (http://www.pro-racks.com/Xlarge.html) and its nearly 4ft wide and even that i felt was being a little tight. Racks are great but i feel they often cause one to skimp on room that the same animal would have if in a vivarium.

i know people call any tub RUB's now days lol hah

erm well all the tubs bar the big ones just slide in on the shelves they are on and never have problems. then the big tubs you have to line up with heat mats but again sl;ide in. also even the little tubs just slide them back into place and no problems at all lol.

yeh i know what you mean
1. that female boa is 5-6ft lol so nearly adult.
2. that housing is not permanent housing
3. that housing is only to house new snakes till they come to my house for quarantine.
4. we dont house any of our adult female boas in tubs other than the quarantine period then they go in to vivs unless they are dwarf boas.

Chaps i was not having a go merely making a point. From what i can see your setup obviously works very well! I just wanted to know your opinions on adult females in the tubs as i have used the tubs before and personally wouldnt house them in there and it seems this is the case for you guys!
