Question Snakes eat shed skins?

Hi,

My snake was doing all the shedding things before he shed so I knew he was going to shed, he had cloudy eyes, dull colour, etc...

I checked on him this morning and he had obviously shed, no cloudy eyes, bright colour, I took him out and put him in a RUB so I could clean out the viv because it was due a clean.

As I was cleaning out the viv, there was NO sign of a shed skin, seriously, nothing. He also fed today if it makes a difference.

I was wondering, do snakes eat their shed skins sometimes?

Thanks,
Dan.

I read that the eyes go cloudy and all that, then they clear up BEFORE they shed, so maybe he hasn't yet?

Well I've noticed this with my corns, so maybe this is whats happened. Very near their shed, my corns go from "shedding colours" to normal bright colours. Then usually within the next day or so they are back into a more cloudy shed colour and perhaps the day after they actually shed.

Just part of the shed cycle...he hasn't yet shed I'd suggest.

They generally go blue...then clear up again, then shed a few days later (or sooner)...

So basically, if there isn't a shed skin in there, it hasn't yet shed.

Hmm. It seems he has been normal for 2 days now, I'll see how he goes. It's just that he didn't feed just as he was starting the shedding process, but for some reason he fed just before he actually shed. I dunno!

Yup - almost 100% sure it hasn't shed, yet. Mine did axactly the same - and looked as bright as before for nearly 4 days after the blue eyes disappeared. Just ride it out, and leave him be, cause you'll no doubt find a shed in the viv over the next couple of days
