Default Keeping snakes together

Does sex have anything to do with how you keep your snakes?

I dont keep any of my snakes together but a mate of mine does

He keeps males together, which i always thought was a bad move.

They are corn snakes so I can't see them viciously attacking eachother?

Can anybody shed any light?

And yeah I know that keeping them together has its problems, this thread isnt about that. ta

I keep my adults in pairs and have not had any problems. As far as corns go, I am not aware of any documented incidents of male combat. Even with snakes which do demonstrate this behaviour, it is usually harmless, and is more a test of strength than inflicting harm on each other (although there are always going to be rare exceptions). Providing they are separated for feeding, there should be no problems.

I used to keep my corns in groups back when I started, my main reason now for keeping them seperate is for ease of feeding, monitoring habits including sheds, poops etc. and to guarantee that should one get sick it is not automatically passed on to the others, after coming into contact with so many diseases that are spread by contact with faeces and saliva, it just isn't worth the risk to me.

I've heard of two male corn snakes mating (well, one male corn snake "raping" I suppose it should be!) although have never heard of them actually harming each other with bites etc, getting raped for a male can't be pleasant.

I keep mine in same sex, same size groups with no problems, but only after about a year old until then I keep therm separate. They are tubbed separately for feeding at which time I can identify who is shedding, and they nearly always poo in their feed tubs so that's easy.
