Default Backup Power?

I was wondering if there was a product that you could charge at the mains and then plug things into (standard 3 pin british plug) So if there was a long powercut it would be ready charged and you just plug your reptiles in, im sorry if im stupid, but is there such a thing, and if so how much does it cost?

nothing is going to hold enough power to run even 1 viv for very long. What you need is a generator, Argos do 'em but good ones are a few hundred quid.

I wouldn't plug the reptiles in though, they get funny about that, I would plug the heaters in!!

we're prone to 3-4 hour power cuts here, so we have a generator wired into the house, which puts out enough juice for all the reptiles, the fish tank, a couple of lights, and telly. works a treat.
We lost power between dec 27 and jan 15th back over 2007-2008. That generator saved a lot of little lives, though sadly not all of them

there are some products that do this there basically giant batteries because at my old job the office had one but i think they're very EXPENSIVE! looked like a big plastic brick and weighed a ton but had enuff power to keep the servers and computers running plenty enuff for a few vivs i would have thought

there are UPS backups (designed for servers/pcs etc) that would keep mats going ok, but not ceramics etc

I used to use backup power sources on some computers before, and most will only power the pc for 20-30 min, giving you enough time to save everything before its lost. average PC uses between say 300-500w, so using it to power say a 60w light etc, it would last a bit longer but not for all that long.

It would definately be possible to make something that would work, I could probably do it with very little effort involved but it would be very expensive, extremely heavy and not very mobile, it would be much cheaper and effective to use a generator.

I keep some 40 hour heat packs on hand just in case as they are not too expensive and would be worth it if the power went out for any lenght of time Heatpacks - Default Store View
