Default My Adopted King Snake

Hi guys, I posted this in the introductions section but it's quiet in there and thought I'd share this snake with you!

I haven't owned a snake since my teens but I felt I should give this guy a home as it's been rather badly neglected. It's an Albino King Snake, around 5ft in length and I know it to be at least 8 years old. I've knocked together this vivarium and it seems to be enjoying it's new home. I have handled it without being tagged but there's a lot of tail rattling and protesting when I approach the viv. I've used the forums to learn about them and hopefully I can get it tame and eating well with all of the advice here!

Thanks

Cheers guys! Here's another I just took.
The snake had no hot spot at it's former home (other than a broken heat mat!) so it is enjoying basking.

He is a stunning looking snake! Think he just needs spoiled..hopefully he will calm down as he adjusts and gets used to you...was he handled at all in his last home???...if not, and because he is bit older, could explain the tail rattling...least he doesnt bite!!

Lovely snake, calis are great snakes.

Just one thing though,

Do you intend to feed outside the viv all the time ? If so probably ok, if not then please change the substrate for something like aspen, those beech chips are not good if ingested. Actually just put aspen in anyway, its easier to clean, absorbs more poo and the snake can burrow in it.

Nice rescue and looking in good health! Is it a striped Albino Cali?

i took on a 6/7 year old rescue king too, think EVERYONE should take a rescue but since ur not really a current snakekeeper (if you get what i mean) then its even better

you'll have at least 3 more in 12 months time lol
