Wink Help me convince the parents!!

Hey everyone,
i need help!
I am plannin on getting a royal python, ive found the perfect little boy and even thought of a name,
my mum seems okay with it, but my dad doesnt like the idea one bit
what can i say to try and convince him to let me?

he would have nothing to do with him, i would keep him in my room, in a rub and feed him clean him out etc, out of the way from everyone in the house (my room is a loft conversion, so im completely in my own part of the house)
they are cheap to feed blah blah so money isn't the issue as i will be paying.

any ideas?
i will be heartbroken if i cant get him, but i know it is really mainly up to my rents unfortunately.
here's a pic of the little boy too just so you can see.
Lol

Any help will be appreciated xxxx

Thanks peeps

Amy x

Write a care sheet.....

Print out a load of diffirent care sheets jot down key points, and re write your own care sheet (obviously don't copy any word for word!)

It'll show that your prepared to learn about them and may make him reconsider his stance.

Best of luck!

awww what a sweetheart!

Best bet here is go through your mum :p get her on your side then proove that your mature enough to keep the snake, invest in a viv lock (for peace of mind for your dad...) write a list of everything you will need and the cost and proove that youve got the money and it wont affect him in any way at all... even better take him to the shop to see/handle the snake and go from there!

Thumbs up

Best way is to grind your dad down. Keep talking about the python and tell him you know how to look after it and he will never see it. Hopefully he will give in eventually!!!! Be nice to your Dad, so he'll think everyday is like fathers day (plenty of cups of tea/coffee etc)

Best of luck.

... or do what I did and get one... He won't notice ever!!! and then one day SURPRISE!!! And as above, my mum loved my lizards when she started handling them herself!! ... But on a serious note, do as above, prove you're willing and capable and he should come round! Good luck! he looks a lovely lil fella... (the royal, not your dad... lol) x

I think the best way to stop people being afraid of snakes is to get them to hold one, let them see how tame they are for them self and that a snake wont try to eat them first chance it gets. Its not that hard to get someone to hold a young snake. This has worked with a few of my friends, when they wont hold it I just make fun for being afraid of snakes.

The way I got my ex to let me get a snake was to start her off with a beardie, It took about 6 mounths but for a first pet she was really against snakes, then she didn't mind the idea of having one after. Then I broke up with her not long after that but thats not the point here.

It takes a while but it might be worth trying if he wont let you get that snake.
