Default Recommendations?

Hi, I've never owned a snake before but I've always found them gorgeous and interesting creatures.

What snake would you recommend that's fairly small and friendly? I know corns are usually recommended, but is there any others?

A lot of people say corns and royals. But I think if you research enough and get some experience handling in rep shops etc... you can own whatever species interests you (obviously within reason, lol).
I'd have a look round various shops and see which ones you like the look of.

As above, go to your local reptile shops, handle various species of snake, and come to a conclusion of which species is right for you. Research their specific needs and husbandry. And if you are still very much interested, purchase

Thanks for the replies

I'm not sure of any reptile shops that sell snakes where I live, but will ask around and hopefully handle different species.

don't listen to people who say "corn"
If you get a corn....after a few months you will want something else.
Handle a few different snakes and choose what takes your fancy.....you can always get help here if you choose a more difficult snake to keep.
You may find you like corns but until you see/handle them.....you won't know.

Apart from corns you have royals, milk snakes (although quick), hognoses and rat snakes but as mentioned the decision is down to you really. What do you like the look of ? if you need any advise feel free to pm me and ask anything !!

I'm not sure of any rep shops near where you are, try googling it?
I think your first step should be to look through the snake picture thread and see which one you like the look of, then take it from there!
